Book Printing Details

Hello friends!
To avoid SPAMMERS, I require you give me an email address to leave a comment. I actually don’t keep the email addresses or anything like that. It’s just to stop spammers. This website doesn’t use cookies. It’s also doesn’t have any search engine trackers on it. There are no SEO’s or any Google html code on this website at all. So leave a comment and feel safe doing so! Should I create an email list for special updates?

We absolutely love “Vegan Indian Cooking” by Anupy Singla. Of all the cookbooks we are taking inspiration from, this one is at the top. Our cookbook is currently set to 8.5″ square and paperback. This provides a nice footprint and readability in the kitchen. We’re probably looking at about 180 recipes. Depending on details, we’re looking at about 160 pages for the recipes. Adding an appropriate amount of pictures will drive the cost of the final book to about $25/book. A pictureless version would be around $15. Hardcover would be sitting around $35.

Should we offer multiple versions?

Speaking of versions, there’s also the idea of an e-book. We hate the e-book as it seems unlikely to ever be used in the kitchen. It also offers absolutely horrible returns on investment back to us as the creators. Agree?

Lastly is the subject of distribution. We won’t be printing through Amazon (rat fink bastard of a company) but will almost certainly be using them for distribution. We could also distribute directly from us on this website. And we’re vetting publishers for distribution through bookstores. We could run a Kickstarter-type campaign and offer up advance ordering and advanced options. What are your thoughts on this?

Our funding for this book is pretty minimal/non-existent. Our expectation is that every person who buys our book will be so impressed that they will recommend it to another person and also buy another copy. So everyone will get a copy, except Putin and Xi Ping. Screw those guys.

I actually really like ebook cookbooks. No paranoia about getting pages dirty, and easy search for finding what I’m looking for. For reference, Miyoko Schinner’s Homemade Vegan Pantry is available at some libraries. Each recipe is its own chapter, so makes it super easy to search and find. Compared to DIY Vegan Pantry, which has been difficult to find what I’m looking for.

I would be buying a hard copy as well for my SIL, so there’s that.

E-book it will be. Making cultured food is in its own category. It’s for that reason that we decided toned down our bread recipes.

I prefer ebooks with a good table of contents yo make navigation easy. They require no physical storage space (I have so many cookbooks!) and I have a simple phone holder in the kitchen at eyeball height. Plus I can search for words more efficiently than a paper index. Maybe you could offer a bundle with softcover & ebook, especially if you do something kickstartery?

Ok, we’ll do an e-book version. We’re still chewing on crowd funding help. Thanks Steph!

You better believe I’ll be recommending this book to everyone I know. I will treasure the printed version and it will end up as gifts to my friends. I’ve been preaching the gospel of Galaxy Rune for years. You can count on me!

I like kindle cookbooks for myself, and standard cookbooks for gifting. Would contribute to kickstarter or Patreon for early access to recipes.

Any version of cookbook would be amazing! I remember meeting you at the restaurant and it was so great to talk with you and see your excitement about your house recipes! I will miss the space you had there and the food, but i hope to be able to recreate it! And support you further if possible:)))

The best support we can get will be to share what we’re doing and keep your excitement up! 🙂

So how do I get my hands on a cookbook!? Sounds great. I like the idea of hardcover with pictures and an ebook to pair with it.

Email me details! Happy to help how I can too if you need tech help.

Made a new post for our current status. Things are going well. Most of our time is spent on the recipes.
